Tyler Childers first made waves in the country music scene with the release of his sophomore effort, Purgatory. The critically-acclaimed 2017 album debuted at number 9 on Billboard’s Country Albums, 3 on the Independent Albums, and 2 on the Folk Albums charts. Meanwhile, the album, which spawned hit singles “Lady May,” “Whitehouse Road,” and “Universal Sound,” also entered the Billboard 200 chart at number 98. Thanks to his work with Purgatory, Childers won Emerging Artist of the Year at the Americana Music & Honors Awards in 2018. Meanwhile, the album was included in several best-of lists, such as Rolling Stone’s Top 40 Best Country Americana Albums and NPR Music’s Top 50 Albums.

In 2019, Childers released his first album to go number 1. His third studio effort, Country Squire, topped Billboard’s Country and Folk Albums charts. Meanwhile, it also dominated the U.K.’s Country chart, making the album his first record to break through the international scene. Country Squire features the massive hit single “All Your’n,” which was later nominated at the 2019 Grammy Awards for Best Solo Country Performance.

Three years later, Childers dropped his gospel music project, Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven? The album contains several highly-acclaimed covers, including “Joyful House,” “Old Country Church,” “Hallelujah,” and “Jubilee.” The album became Childer’s highest charting effort on the Billboard 200, peaking at number 8.
