Types of Events

What began as semi-regular performances at the Northwest Arkansas Mall parking lot in 2005, soon became something much bigger as attendance, and the demand for live music, grew.

During a two-year stint at the Washington County Fairgrounds from 2012, the shows became more and more popular, and the need for a permanent residence arose. This came in 2014, when the Walmart AMP opened with a sold-out show from country star and “The Voice” coach Blake Shelton, with special guest Hunter Hayes.

Countless country, rock and roll, and independent artists line up through the concert season, particularly in June. Named as the biggest stage house and most popular music venue in the state of Arkansas, this Rogers venue will host countless popular artists during its summer concert season, some of whom have included:

  • All-American Rejects (June 2006)
  • LeAnn Rimes (June 2009)
  • Luke Bryan (June 2010)
  • Goo Goo Dolls (June 2019)
  • Backstreet Boys (June 2022)
  • Cody Johnson (June 2022)
  • Foo Fighters (June 2023)

The venue designers found inspiration in some of the most famous performance destinations on earth to accommodate all walks of life. Besides the biggest stage house in the state and a classic box office, you can expect ADA-accessible seating, lawn seats, concession stands, and lots more.

Amphitheater History

With Rogers, AR, the venue of the very first Walmart, it seemed bigger things were in order from the start. While modern artists like Canada singer-songwriter Allison Russell and Whiskey Myers grace the biggest stage house now, there’s a rich history behind Walton Arts Center (officially named Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion since June 2014).

Originally, the semi-permanent venue would open in June 2005. Summer music fans embraced the original location near Fayetteville, Arkansas, but a modest 2,533 guests could attend events. Rising to the challenge, the designers of Tentnology (Vancouver, Canada) surveyed Boston Harbor Lights Pavilion, Aspen Music Tent, and Cape Cod Melody Tent to craft the amphitheater work alongside the Walton Arts Center.

Guests from Fayetteville and everywhere else could now enjoy year-round access to major music events and more in Rogers, AR, and they didn’t hold back. A string of iconic performances followed—Patty Loveless, The Beach Boys, Gin Blossoms, and innumerable country and rock performers. Setbacks from negotiations that fell through between 2012 and 2013 were a hiccup, but Arkansas Music Pavilion blossomed into a permanent structure after June 2014.

When Walmart, Inc. bought naming rights, the name change to the Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion stuck, and the affectionately named “Walmart Amp” is now a household name in Rogers, AR. Throughout its nearly 20-year tenure as reigning outdoor amphitheater, the Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion would host alternative, rock, and country stars of varying flavors and sub-genres, including:

  • Collective Soul
  • Air Supply
  • Earth, Wind, & Fire
  • The Marshall Tucker Band
  • Blue Oyster Cult
  • Kid Rock
  • ZZ Top

This year’s lineup is sure to provide the same exceptional experience as prior years, such as performances from Allison Russell, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, and Reid Haughton (typically scheduled from April to June and beyond).
