Styx has been around the block a few times since they smashed head-first into the music scene in the 1970s. Since the release of The Grand Illusion in 1977, they released a string of albums all reaching multi-platinum status, bumpering up their back-catalogue to an absolute force to be reckoned with. Now, over five decades later, Styx is back on stage, wielding an arsenal of the greatest hits in rock history - as potent as ever, just as progressive as you remember them with their hooks, riffs, rhythms and cool sounds they manage to generate from keyboards and guitars, vocals to die for, and explosive from start to finish!
Styx has a good couple of dates lined up for 2026, including a Las Vegas residency, a whole lot of headlining dates, a major co-headlining tour alongside rock legends Chicago, and then of course, their limited date tour alongside Cheap Trick. The latter is slated to kick off in mid-May 2026 in Little Rock, Arkansas, rolling into three more major venues before wrapping up towards the end of May 2026 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Styx is synonymous with sheer talent. Apart from their insanely tight and hair-raising vocal harmonies, frontmen James “J.Y.” Young and Tommy Shaw boast sets of pipes that can tear a hole in a ceiling. Drummer Todd Sucherman has dexterity and speed that can kick dust in young drummers’ eyes; Will Evankovich’s guitar skills are things most of us can only dream about; and bassist Chuck Panozzo packs a punch like few.
Plainly put - if you’ve never seen Styx live in concert, you need to urgently fix it.
Special guest Cheap Trick needs little introduction. Armed to the teeth with a massive back catalogue with face-melters such as Surrender, I Want You To Want Me, The Flame, and Dream Police, there simply is no disappointment on the cards here.
