The band, led by Seth and Scott Avett, emerged in 2000 and started their career with several independent records. Their debut album, County Was, was released in 2002. Five years later, the band dropped their fifth album, Emotionalism. The album broke into the Billboard 200 and topped the Heatseekers chart. Emotionalism’s success has brought much attention to the band. The same year, The Avett Brothers won Emerging Artist of the Year and Duo/Group of the Year at the Americana Music Honors & Awards.
